I purchased this to upgrade the internal memory of my son's PlayStation 4. I worked and I'm the best mom ever. 🙂
What more do i need to say. Bought it for use on my PS4 Pro and installed it in the Pro when i got it. Works great and you will notice things do load faster.Just remember you will need to download the current firmware for PS4 (pro & original use same firmware) and it needs to be full firmware download (the one thats over 900mb) to setup the PS4 operating system. Use a USB and make sure you download the file directly into the folder itself (PS4 > UPDATE > then the file).Dont forget to do a system to system transfer if you have a PS4 already that has games and things on it. It will take a couple hours (around 2 or 3 hours usually), but if you play MMOs (FFXIV, Star Trek, Warframe, Elder Scrolls and so on) it will take longer unless you delete the games off your system before doing the system transfer. Thats because MMOs have a ton of files from always being updated and its just easier to redownload them from PSN.You can also use that same process if your someone who likes to backup your files on an external drive.
☆☆ I got this to upgrade my HDD in my PlayStation 4 Pro. I was expecting maybe a slight performance upgrade when loading some game content, but actually ended up with overall slower load times then the factory drive. In Multiplayer games this is especially noticeable because by the time I load into a game everyone else is already running around in combat and I'm getting yelled all sorts of colorful things on the headset while I'm waiting to load in.It's hard to Benchmark this since I have it in a PlayStation, but I did compare it with load times on my classic 500GB PS4.This drive in my PS4 Pro on average is about 3 to 4 seconds slower than my Classic 500GB PS4.I'm not incredibly picky and most people I play with know I load is slower now so as long as this drive keeps chugging along I'll keep using it.I just wouldn't recommend this as a so called "Gaming Drive" when the Factory Drives run circles around them, they just have more storage to hold more Games.
